Boosterthon gives back at Buffalo Ridge Elementary

Every school across the country that participated in a Boosterthon Fun Run program came together on May 20 to pack up meals for local food bank organizations. Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) was honored to be asked to host the Colorado event.

Volunteers from around the Denver metro area came and helped to pack 5,000 packages of tomato basil pasta. Boosterthon area directors and program assistants were on hand to make the event fun for the kids when they were not busy packaging the meals.

The meals were earned when kids from each school collected pledges for their fun run. Boosterthon helps schools raise funds for needed equipment, programming and student activities. Each year, Boosterthon selects a giveback campaign that the kids help work towards while learning character development and fitness education through the Boosterthon program.

All 5,000 meals were delivered by BRE parent Valerie Miller to the Food Bank of the Rockies on May 22, and they were grateful for the donation. To find out more about the Food Bank of the Rockies, visit www.foodbankrockies.org.
