Bookmobile Seeks Parent Partners

Are you the parent who always knows when the school science fair is scheduled? Do you think every child should have a library card?

If you are an organized parent of an elementary school student who answered “yes” to the above questions, the Douglas County Library (DCL) bookmobile wants you as a liaison!

The DCL bookmobile’s management wants to be kept “in the know” about what is going on in the elementary schools located in Castle Pines North.

“One parent partner from each local elementary school (Buffalo Ridge, Timber Trail, and the Montessori school) will help ensure that the bookmobile is stocked with appropriate books and materials,” said Peg Hooper, Satellite Services Manager.

“For example, if we know the science fair is coming, we can make sure to stock the bookmobile with lots of science-related books,” she added. “The liaisons can also help us organize our presence at the elementary school’s career day, help with a library card drive, keep their respective PTA informed about what the bookmobile has to offer, arrange for story times at the schools, help organize a bookmobile field trip to the school(s), and much more!”

The school/library liaison job is voluntary and will not be overly time consuming. It can be completed either via e-mail or phone, and will be immensely beneficial to the kids.

If you are interested in volunteering, contact Peg Hooper at 303-791-7323 or
