Behind the bundt

Jake and Savannah Whitehead, pictured with daughter, Georgia, recently purchased all three locations of The Bundt Shoppe.

As of May, The Bundt Shoppe has new owners. Jake and Savannah Whitehead bought the franchise for all three locations in the area: Castle Pines, Highlands Ranch and Greenwood Village. Jake and Savannah tasted their first bundts when they moved to The Village at Castle Pines in 2021. “I absolutely loved the cake,” Jake said.

Fast forward a few years when Jake was looking for a new business opportunity.

“I was looking for a business to buy and everything made sense and worked perfectly for us to purchase the three stores,” Jake explained.

Jake has long-term plans for the stores but is working on a few short-term needs first. He is busy cleaning up, organizing and painting all three locations. The Greenwood Village location is piloting another treat that pairs well with cake: Colorado Springs-based ice cream shop, Josh & John’s.

Jake’s enthusiasm for cake and the role of The Bundt Shoppe in our community is infectious. He is excited to give back where he can and is hopeful to make the bakery a neighborhood favorite and go-to dessert destination for everyone.

New and old favorites are on the menu. Customer feedback is very welcome, so Jake can tailor changes towards what the community had before, what is missing currently, and what the future wants could be.

“I would love to make these stores focused on our customers and what they love,” Jake said.

Jake has operations management experience and a degree in business administration. He is currently working on his MBA degree.

Jake and Savannah met in high school, where they both played basketball. Savannah’s school traveled to Jake’s where he saw her for the first time. He made sure to watch the women’s game and was impressed with her basketball skills. “She was beautiful and really good at basketball,” Jake said. He did not leave until he had her phone number. They both went on to play ball at the college level.

The Whitehead family currently lives in Parker, close to extended family, who help with their one-year-old daughter, Georgia. While Jake is managing the stores and going to school, Savannah is busy as the head coach of Cherry Creek High School’s girls varsity basketball team.

Jake hopes the community will stick with them as they works through the changes and as he gets his feet under him. “I’d love The Bundt Shoppe to be the first choice for all your party needs. I want people to love cake as much as we do,” Jake concluded.
