Last month, The Connection featured an article on Backpack Society, an organization that partners with local schools to offer hope through a consistent bag of easy-to-prepare meals on the weekend so kids can focus on important things – like being a kid.
On Saturday, March 26, The Castle Pines Connection held a community food drive to support Backpack Society. According to founder June Everett, it was the largest single donation Backpack Society has ever received, weighing in at more than a half a ton of food (nearly 1,400 pounds).
Special thanks to King Soopers general manager Dennis Fossceco, Wellspring Community for the great cookies, and to all who contributed – especially the resident who walked up and purchased our entire cart of “samples of items needed,” spending more than $150.
