The Fifth Annual 9/11 Eat for a Cause community fundraiser was held at Pino’s Italian Kitchen & Bar.  More than $10,000 was raised from a percentage of proceeds of restaurant sales from both Pino’s and Berg Haus, as well as donations from a silent auction and wine pull.

The evening event sold out with 250 attendees.  Earlier that day while event organizers were setting up tables, lunch patrons were purchasing the donated centerpiece bouquets as quickly as they were set out.  “The flowers helped to raise more than 30% of our funds,” said Joe Sabia, Pino’s owner and event organizer.  “They were beautiful.  We could have sold twice as many,” he continued.

All monies raised went to the OneGoat Foundation, a nonprofit that helps first responders fill a funding gap when they are injured on the job.  This year, the event hit close to home when the sole recipient was a firefighter who served at the Castle Pines Fire Station 36 (see related story on page 13 ).  To learn more about OneGoat, visit https://www.onegoat.org/about-us/.
