American Girl® Place – girls and moms celebrate new store

American Girl® began as a catalog retailer in 1986 with the purpose of celebrating girls. Twenty-four years later, it has grown into a mega icon that now includes eight stores, a vast collection of dolls, books, clothing, accessories and more. Lone Tree is home to the newest store and it’s located just 10 minutes to our north in The Vistas at Park Meadows.
Local third grade friends, Audrey, Ashlyn and Gabrielle (pictured right), are very excited about the new store and hope to have many special visits there. The three enjoy dressing their dolls, styling their doll’s hair and learning about history through characters and books.
At the forefront of the American Girl® product line-up are the Historical Characters. Each character doll is based upon a period of time and includes era related clothing, accessories and books to give life to history. “Addie is my daughter’s favorite doll right now as her story coincides with her school studies about the Civil War and slavery,” said Lara Baker, local mother of a 9-year old daughter.
The Just Like You Dolls® are just that – you pick the hair color, eye color, and skin color for a doll that looks just like you. Bitty Baby® and Bitty Twin® dolls are made especially for the youngest American Girl® enthusiasts ages 3 and older. All dolls have a never-ending selection of clothing and accessories. Girls can even purchase clothing and pajamas to match their doll.
American Girl® books inspire girls to delve into the past or simply become the best they can be. From history to self-confidence, the books bring added depth to the American Girl® product line.
Besides shopping, the Lone Tree location will feature a doll salon for hair styling and ear piercing as well as a Creativi-tees boutique for doll size t-shirt creations.
“It’s a good role model. Girls can learn in an entertaining and fun way,” said Dana Carr, mom of a third grade daughter. Baker and Carr say they will use the store as a way to reward good work or as a special occasion outing – like visits with grandma.
American Girl® Place is located in The Vistas at Park Meadows. Store hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
