American Academy Charter School Opens Doors
American Academy Charter School hosted an Open House on Friday, August 26th, with Senator John Evans as guest speaker. The new school opened its doors to 380 students on Monday, August 29th, at the temporary location in Lone Tree.
In just a year, Castle Pines North residents Erin Kane, Jackie Santos, and Denese Gardner, along with dozens of parent volunteers, made their dream a reality by creating American Academy.
The school features the Core Knowledge curriculum and has an emphasis in math, science and technology.
The school plans to build a permanent facility in the Castle Pines North area by 2007. More than 25 percent of students at American Academy are residents of CPN. American Academy is Douglas County’s sixth charter school.
