Submitted by Trish Cummings

With a school-wide emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math, American Academy (AA) students often enjoy a good number of STEM awards and accolades. This year, AA art students are bringing it home as well! Overall, fifteen talented AA students were selected to have their work shown at the Douglas County School District Art Show.

Two elementary AA students took first place in their age categories. Elementary school award winners included first place for first grader Tavin Veres and first place for fifth grader Grace Hensley.

Four middle school students brought home top place ribbons in three categories. Congratulations middle school award winners: Mimi Kim, first place in digital photography; Denise Jin, second place in pointillism drawing; Emily Butler, third place in web design/graphics; Hillary Hanson, third place in digital photography!
