Adventures of summer
DCSM Park Adventures campers know how to enjoy Castle Pines local parks. Campers took advantage of the beautiful day to climb and swing at Coyote Ridge Park.

Summer is all about exploring the unknown, trying a new outdoor activity or diving deep into a world of adventure. DCS Montessori (DCSM) elementary students did all of the above with two themed summer camps planned and organized by DCSM teachers and assistants Lynn Booton and Lisa Albert.
Adventures in the Amazon day camp sent campers on five days filled with rainforest excursions. Adventures in the Amazon created an opportunity for students to look closely at flora and fauna, human cultures as well as the climate and weather of the Amazon. These curious campers also built habitat dioramas for their Amazon critters of jaguars, scarlet macaws and green anacondas.
Amazon explorers shared their experience, thoughts and visions of the mighty rainforests of the Amazon and all of its wonderful critters they encountered.
Other campers participated in Park Adventures day camp, where they traveled by the DCSM activities van to all of the Castle Pines and Castle Rock parks for a lot of picnicking and fun in the sun. The Park Adventures camp visited Elk Ridge, The Retreat, Coyote Ridge and the Philip S. Miller MAC parks for hours of outdoor games and plain old fun. Monkey bars, swings and slides kept these campers busy. To cool off, campers enjoyed splash games at both Elk Ridge and the MAC.
Whether these campers were day trippin’ in the rainforests of the Amazon or climbing the incline at the MAC, this summer has truly been an adventure for the DCSM campers.
