Adult discounts around the Denver metro area

By Patte Smith

There are several websites that list 50+ discounts in Colorado.  One such site is www.theseniorlist.com that lists 2016 discounts for restaurants, retail stores, prescriptions, grocery stores and travel.  Many of the service providers on this website have been verified for 2016 senior discounts.  Please be sure to check when you visit one of these businesses or their websites that they are offering the discounts.  Here are a few businesses around the area that offer discounts:

AMC Theatre offers discounted movie tickets for 62 and older adults, and Regal movie theaters post special senior rates for patrons 60 and older.

The Denver Botanic Gardens main location on York Street gives visitors age 65 and up 25 percent off admission, and the Denver Art Museum offers discounted tickets for adults 65 and older.

Banana Republic offers 10 percent off for adults 62 and older, and Dressbarn has a senior discount of 10 percent for shoppers age 62 and older for in-store purchases on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, depending on the store.  Starting at age 55, Kohl’s shoppers can show an ID to claim a 15 percent discount on Wednesdays.  Hobbyists age 55 and older qualify for a 10 percent price reduction everyday at Michaels.

Denny’s has discounts for 55 and older adults, and IHOP has a special menu of pancakes, eggs, and French toast discounted for senior diners, starting at age 55.

Greyhound lowers fares by five percent for bus passengers age 62 and older, and United Airlines offers reduced fares to select destinations for passengers 65 and older.  Ask for details when booking a flight or select the “seniors” category when booking on the company site.  Travelers age 65 and older are eligible for fare savings and fully-refundable tickets on Southwest Airlines, and Amtrak offers 62 and older adults 15 percent off tickets.
