A new opportunity to learn and grow –

Happy back to school

Graphic of Thoroughly Modern Manners
Dear Reader,

This month’s column is for the kids. Happy back to school to all of you!

Another year, another opportunity to learn and grow, and your community is right here supporting you.

Take a minute to revisit this lesson: Being nice is when you are polite to people and treat people well. Being kind is when you care about people and show you care. Sometimes you can be kind to someone even though you aren’t nice to them and you can certainly be nice to someone but also be unkind.

I saw the following in a social media post, and I would credit the party responsible for the beautiful words, but it wasn’t noted. It was painted on a hallway in a school and I think it’s worthy of being shared far and wide:

Some kids are smarter than you.
Some kids have cooler clothes than you.
Some kids are better at sports than you.
IT DOESN’T MATTER.
You have YOUR thing too.
Be the kid who can get along.
Be the kid who is generous.
Be the kid who is happy for others.
Be the kid who does the right thing.

BE THE KIND KID!

Have a beautiful year.
Big Love,
Mrs. Abramovitz
