A goalkeeper with goals
Castle Pines is home to many pro athletes, both active and retired. Today, we can claim a professional soccer player for the Colorado Rapids (Rapids).
Adam Beaudry (17) was drafted by the Rapids in 2023 and signed officially on January 10 for a four-year contract with an option for two additional years.
Adam is excited to play at the highest level for the Rapids at the goalkeeper position.
“It means a lot to me to play for the professional team in my home state,” stated Adam. “Growing up playing in the Colorado youth system and then to play for the Rapids means a lot, and I cannot thank my family, coaches and friends enough who have helped me along this journey.”
Born in St. Charles, Missouri, Adam began playing soccer at the age of 4, and he also played multiple other sports. On the soccer field, he played starting center back, and around the age of 6, he began goalkeeping.
Adam and his family moved to the Glen Oaks neighborhood in 2015. Playing with the club team Real Colorado (Real), Adam played striker and goalkeeper. With more training, he quickly realized that he wanted to be exclusively a goalkeeper.
At 15, Adam continued the journey to pro at the Rapids Academy and then moved up to Rapids 2 to push himself to be all that he could be in his position. Rapids 2 is a professional soccer club in MLS NEXT Pro, a league created in 2022 and affiliated with Major League Soccer (MLS).
“I have always wanted to play professionally since I was little, so the biggest thing when I started to get serious about the sport was how I was going to do that,” added Adam. “With the great coaches at Real, they helped me grow into a decent academy player, but I still had a lot of work to do to get to the professional level.”
Also along the way, Adam traveled internationally to Guatemala, Mexico, and the Czech Republic with the United States U-17 Men’s Youth National Team and trained and competed in FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia during 2023.
“Playing in the U-17 World Cup was just a great experience for me and I am very grateful for that opportunity to represent the U.S. at that level,” added Adam.
Throughout last year’s season, Adam started 16 games for Rapids 2 achieving three clean sheets, meaning he did not allow a goal. He contributed to the team’s No. 1 overall seed in MLS NEXT Pro, which is MLS’s top youth league.
In 2023, Adam earned MLS NEXT Pro’s “Goalkeeper of the Month” award for both May and July along with a “Rising Star of Matchday” award. In addition, Adam was a finalist for MLS NEXT Pro’s “Goalkeeper of the Year” as well as achieving the Rapids’ “Academy Player of the Year.”
“The biggest thing for me is to know that this is just the beginning, and the work is just starting. It is definitely not a time to sit back and enjoy these accomplishments, but to work even harder,” added Adam. “Ultimately, I want to become the best player, person and teammate that I can be.”
To pursue soccer at this level, Adam left Rock Canyon High School as a sophomore and is continuing his education online at the United States Performance Academy.
When Adam is not goalkeeping, he enjoys golf, hanging out with his friends and family and their four dogs. Down the road, Adam would like to play for one of the top five leagues in Europe.
And his family is proud. “As with all of our kids, I hope they find what brings them true happiness in life, and for Adam that has always been the game of soccer,” stated Anne Beaudry, Adam’s mom. “We are proud of him and all the hard work he has put in toward reaching his goals and excited for what the future holds!”
