Read Across America Day was created to encourage children to read and is celebrated by many on March 2 along with the birthday of Dr. Seuss – his 117th this year. American Academy first grade students held their own special celebration with a day of serious Seussiness.

Students, adorned in handmade Thing 1 and Thing 2 hats kicked off Seuss day fun reading favorite Dr. Seuss books such as Green Eggs and Ham, There’s a Wocket in My Pocket and The Lorax. Each student created handmade bookmarks. Erin Dill and her first grade students love to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The day is always fun for Dill to see the kids enjoying the books and stories that she enjoyed as a kid.
