A Colorado calling
Who says a Buff and a Ram cannot live happily ever after? The Walters are proof the two can thrive together and love all things Colorado.
Lauren Walter and her husband Rory moved to The Canyons neighborhood in September 2023. They have settled in nicely and enjoy their views of Pikes Peak.
While Lauren is originally from Texas, her husband is from Highlands Ranch. He graduated from Mullen High School and CU Boulder with his undergraduate and masters degrees in civil engineering.
The two met in college. Lauren was at Colorado State University (CSU) getting her degree in equine science and business and met Rory through his brother, who was also going to CSU at the time. Lauren and Rory had a Denver wedding, holding their reception at The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa.
Lauren said, “I love to go to tea at the Brown every chance I get! I mean, who doesn’t like tea? And it certainly holds sentimental value for me.”
The couple moved shortly after marriage to California, then to Texas and back to Erie, Colorado, before making their latest move to Castle Pines.
Rory is the western regional manager for the temporary works division for Kiewit Corporation, and Lauren currently stays at home and manages the family. They have three children and three dogs: Britton (9), Beckett (6) and Rhett (2); Toaster and Tulip the English bulldogs and Bourbon, the French bulldog. Britton and Beckett attend school at Buffalo Ridge Elementary.
Lauren said they enjoyed living in San Diego, but Colorado has always called to them.
“We have family in Colorado Springs, Westminster and Wellington. Rory’s brother and family have 80 acres and cattle up north and Rory’s mom lives in Wellington as well,” said Lauren. “Since both of us attended college in Colorado and lived here previously, we still have several friends in our last neighborhood and surrounding areas.”
The Walters have hobbies they love. Britton is all about tennis. Beckett is focusing on hockey. Lauren shared that the entire family is learning French and taking piano lessons. She also hopes to pick back up her love of equestrian sports once Rhett starts kindergarten. Rory enjoys snowboarding, fishing, golf and Lauren said when they have a minute, he loves dragging her to punk rock concerts.
