A brief message from your DCSD Superintendant

Dr. Elizabeth Celania-Fagen
DCSD Superintendant

Dear Douglas County School District Families:

I want to welcome you to what I believe will be an excellent school year in the Douglas County School District. This is one of my favorite times of year – when our students and staff return and fill quiet buildings with energy and life. I realize that many families started school weeks ago and others have only just begun this past week – in either case, I want to welcome everyone back to what I feel is going to be a great year in our district.

As you may know, I started my work in the district on July 1, 2010. It has been a very busy and productive six weeks. I continue to be excited to serve as your superintendent. I have been spending time listening, learning, building relationships, as well as getting up to speed through reviewing current information in preparation for this year. I have also been working to fill open positions vacated by many talented employees who have either retired or earned promotions in other districts. I believe our new team and new structure will reflect the needs and interests of our schools and will serve and support our students, staff, parents, and community well.

Not only is it an exciting time in our district, it is an exciting time in education in general. We are energized by the opportunities ahead, and plans for our future are currently in the early stages of development. With that, I want you to know that we will continue the Douglas County traditions of innovation and excellence and provide the best educational opportunities for our students today and in the future.

Finally, I look forward to communicating with you periodically throughout the school year and additional information about how you can stay informed and/or get involved will be coming soon. In the meantime, if there is something we can do to help you or your student, please do not hesitate to ask. I wish you and your family a great year.

Sincerely,
Dr. Elizabeth Celania-Fagen
