A boost in the local economy, $20 at a time

On August 20th, the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce partnered with The Castle Pines Connection to organize the first of a series of economic incentives called $20 on the 20th. The goal of this program was to encourage residents to spend an additional $20 on an item they would not otherwise buy from local merchants as a way to boost our local economy, and our Castle Pines neighbors ROCKED it!
The following fifteen local businesses participated, including Little Italy, The Flower Shop, The Spa at 188, The Bundt Shoppe, CaBu Pilates, Green Earth Cleaners, DazBog Coffee, Red Umbrella Deli and Catering, King Soopers, Castle Pines Wine & Spirits, Walgreens, Safeway, Castle Pines Library, Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce, and The Castle Pines Connection.
Chuck Barry with Green Earth Cleaners said he had great results with the incentive. “I got numerous requests for the $20 comforter cleaning special, and six or seven of those were brand new clients. It was a great idea, and we had a terrific response from it!”
Lisa Newman with DazBog commented, “Our coffee shop was a very happy zoo-like place that day!” with their promotional special of one pound of coffee and a tea tin for $20.
According to Chamber President Sharon Kollmar, this first attempt with the new program was a great success and the vast majority of participants were extremely pleased with the results.
“We welcome feedback on how to improve the program for our business owners for future similar events,” said Kollmar, “and we really want to thank all the residents who went out and supported our local businesses. It is truly amazing how a little effort and only twenty bucks can make an impact on an entire community.”
Be sure to mark your calendar and save those twenty-dollar bills for the next $20 on the 20th promotion, which will be held on Saturday, November 20 in CPN just in time for Thanksgiving!
